  D.O.B. Scholarship Program Bishop’s Scholarship Program Be an Angel to a Student Program
WHAT is the program? Established by the Diocese of Brooklyn as a means to make a quality Catholic education available to as many families as possible, the program offers partial scholarships to families in financial need of tuition assistance for students in Pre-K to 8th grade enrolled in Catholic grammar schools in Brooklyn and Queens. In conjunction with the Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF), the BSP was created to stimulate enrollment of students from Public Schools into Catholic Schools for those families with financial need of tuition assistance in line with CSF’s aim to maximize educational opportunity for all children. A sponsorship program where a donor, an Angel, pays a portion of the student’s tuition for a family with extraordinary need to help send their children to a Catholic school they love. The student sends correspondence to the Angel throughout the school year, including letters, greetings and report cards.
WHO is eligible? Any family in need of tuition assistance with a child or children in grades Pre-K to 8 enrolled in a Catholic grammar school in Brooklyn or Queens. Families who meet the program’s income guidelines and other eligibility requirements may be eligible to receive a BSP award. WHO funds the program? The generous donors of Futures in Education and the Annual Catholic Appeal. Futures in Education fundraising events and a matching grant of 50% of all funds raised from the Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF). Angel donors who pay a portion of the student’s tuition.

HOW are scholarships awarded? Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students based on program eligibility requirements, income level, household size, and timing of when application is received. WHEN am I notified? Selection process begins after March 31, 2012. Notices are sent on average 6-8 weeks from when the completed application is received.
